Programme Structure

The MA in Muslim Cultures is a two-year programme which consists of a number of different elements: core and elective courses, a field-based language immersion programme, a communications and organisation course, and, fieldwork which contributes to a dissertation. Courses are grouped into five separate components:

In general, assessment is based on class participation, presentations, written assignments and examinations. The final dissertation is a prerequisite for graduation from the MA programme.

During the two-year Programme, students must complete a total of 23 courses, consisting of 17 core courses and 6 electives. Elective courses on offer vary from year to year. The programme is run full-time over 2 years, consisting of 6 terms of 12 weeks and 2 summer terms of 4 weeks each.
