2nd year MA students at AKU-ISMC participated in a Communication and International Leadership Programme

From September 17th to October 5th the Institute's second year MA students participated in a Communication and International Leadership Programme. This integral component of the MA in Muslim Cultures looks to engage students with the skills necessary to communicate and lead in a multicultural and fast-paced global society.

The programme aims to build long-term success by linking theoretical knowledge with practical application, allowing time for practice and discussion. It will build on self-awareness, awareness and openness to others' points of view and the ability to adapt communication and leadership styles across cultural, religious and ethnic differences.

The Programme was led by two management consultants in addition to sessions led by AKU-ISMC faculty and staff

The Programme was led by two management consultants from Coghill Beery, in addition to sessions led by AKU-ISMC faculty and staff.

While there will be long-term benefits from this course, modules such as communication skills, presentation styles, team-building and modes of persuasion will be of immediate benefit as students enter their final year of study.

AKU-ISMC's unique MA in Muslim Cultures comprises of a variety of components including a field-based Language Immersion Programme, academic excursions and field work (as required to complete the MA dissertation). The Programme provides a multidisciplinary approach to the study of Muslim cultures and societies and employs the tools of the humanities and social sciences in order to further explore contemporary and historical questions.
