AKU-ISMC Library – Library Staff

Waseem Farooq has been working with AKU-ISMC since September 2005 as the Library Administrator.

Stefan Seeger joined ISMC in April 2005 as the Librarian and has since been responsible for the development of the Institute's Library. He obtained his degree in Library Science from the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences in Germany with a thesis on the history and structure of public libraries in Egypt. He has work experience from academic and specialised libraries in Germany, Egypt and Lebanon and prior to his studies he had been working for more than four years as bookseller in southern Germany. He collaboratively edited a reprint of the Handbuch der Bibliothek-Wissenschaft [Handbook of Library Science] by Martin Schrettinger (Hildesheim, 2003). He is a member, among other organisations, of Melcom UK, the association for Librarians of Middle Eastern collections in Britain.

Otambek Mastibekov is the part-time Library Assistant. He obtained his MA in Islamic Studies from SOAS, University of London, after which he worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Ismaili Studies.  He is currently completing his PhD in Political Anthropology at SOAS. Otambek joined AKU-ISMC in February 2007. 

Lucy Capes has been a part-time Library Assistant since September 2007. She studied American Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley, followed by a BA in American Studies at the University of Sussex which included a year at Tulane University in New Orleans focusing on philosophy. On her return to the UK and the University of Sussex, Lucy undertook an MA in Social and Political Thought. At present she is completing her second MA in African/Asian History at the University of London, SOAS concentrating on Arabic and Middle Eastern History. Publications: "Leviathan: On a Leveller's Playing Field" in Studies in Social and Political Thought No.8 (2003).
