About the Muslim Civilisations Abstracts (MCA) Project
The Muslim Civilisations Abstracts (MCA) project seeks to record and abstract a large body of published writing relating to many aspects of Muslim civilisations. These publications are in a range of languages - European, Asian, African and languages spoken by majority Muslim populations (Arabic, Bengali, Malay/Indonesian, Persian, Russian, Turkish and Urdu). Some of these languages are under-represented in existing bibliographies and surveys of the literature, and remain little known outside their immediate contexts. The purpose of the MCA will be to widen knowledge among scholars worldwide of what has been written on Muslim civilisations globally.
To help achieve this, it will:
- make available online, abstracts and reviews in multiple languages;
- initiate full-length translation projects of certain key works of scholarship; and
- create an online resource and reference tool for scholars, students and the public at large.
