September 28 - October 10, 2009

Aga Khan University Medical College's Bioethics Unit, in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, USA is organising a certificate course on Research Ethics from September 28 to October 10, 2009. This course is funded by the Higher Education Commission, Government of Pakistan and United States Agency for International Development through the United States-Pakistan Science and Technology Cooperative Programme, and is design ed to help meet Pakistan's increasing need for training in research ethics. Salient areas offered in this course are Contemporary Bioethics, Philosophy (Islamic and Western) and various topics under Research Ethics.

Eligibility: Doctors, nurses and other professionals associated with health care, social scientists, health activists, journalists, lawyers and others who wish to develop a fuller understanding of research ethics are encouraged to apply.

Timings: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm

Selection

• The executive committee will decide on successful candidates
• The committee's decision will be final
• Selected candidates will be informed by Friday, August 28, 2009
• Selected candidates will have funding available for registration, course material and boarding (reimbursement of return fair for air/train/bus travel from within Pakistan excluding Karachi)

Please note that only selected candidates will be informed of admission and there are no lodging funds available for this course.

Fees: The course is free of cost.

Participants from outside Karachi: A one-time return air/train/bus ticket will be reimbursed. Please note that accommodation costs are not funded.
