The Department of Community Health Sciences of AKU Medical College is the premier public health academic unit in the country. The department has adopted a leadership model in community oriented public health and social development, recognised regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality and extent of its work.
The vision of the Chancellor set the direction for the University to take a lead in community development and the creation of an innovative curriculum that emphasises a balance of tertiary care with population health.
