Continuing Medical Education (CME)
Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi (AKUH,N) conducts Continuing Medical Education programmes regularly. The goal of CME is acquisition and maintenance of new and current knowledge, relevant professional skills and ethical professional attitudes benefiting:
- The patient/client;
- Continuing Education of physician community
- Development of “relationships” between Aga Khan University (AKU) clinical faculty and community physicians;
- Awareness and information of Aga Khan University Hospitals (AKUH) services to the physicians outside AKU;
- Outreach objectives.
CME Activities at AKUH,N
The following are recognised Professional Development Activities:
- Weekly Thursday lunch time clinical meetings;
- Weekly Thursday morning Case-based learning (CBL) sessions;
- Departmental Morbidity/Mortality sessions;
- Departmental Grand Rounds;
- Journal club;
- Clinical-Radiology-Pathology conferences;
- Conferences, symposia, refresher courses, workshops, short courses.
Each of these activities will be credited with one hour of CPD points
Signs, Symptoms and Care Programme (SSC)
The SSC programme provides opportunity to AKU faculty to interact with the general public as well as educate them about common health care problems and their prevention.
The sessions are held at AKU,N Lecture Theatre on every alternate Saturday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
