Awards and Recognition
Message from the Chief Nursing Officer
As the Chief Nursing Officer at Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi (AKUH,N), it makes me immensely proud to have won the 2006 Lieven-Lanckman award. This was awarded by the National Nursing Association of Kenya (NNAK) to the hospital whose Nursing Division has excellent infection control practice and hygiene standards in addition to exceptional Nursing Practices.
Winning this award was not an easy task, however with committed, caring and motivated staff and sound institutional policies we have been able to meet our objective.
I would like to thank our Chief Executive Officer, members of the Senior Leadership team at AKUH,N and the Chief Academic Head of Aga Khan University, Advanced Nursing Studies (ANS) Programme for supporting all the initiatives we engage in, institutional managers for backing us every inch of the way and my nursing team for their outstanding contribution. The nurses in my division deserve the highest kudos for their dedicated service, commitment to patient care and for all the hard work they put into transferring the visionary ideas we have into reality.

No nursing division would be able to function without guidelines from our Chief Nursing Officer at the Ministry of Health, the Nursing Council and NNAK. I want to acknowledge their contribution for bringing Nursing in Kenya into the 21st century.
