Aga Khan University is Pakistan 's first private international university, committed to social development in Pakistan and the developing countries through excellence in education and health services. For over 20 years, Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) has been committed to its philanthropic mission of ensuring that services of the hospital are accessible to people from all levels of society. More than 70 per cent of the 500,000 patients who visit the hospital annually belong to the lower socio-economic group and are unable to fully pay for their treatment. The Patient Welfare Programme of AKUH fulfills their need for quality health care without discrimination.

Hospital well-wishers, volunteer run shops on campus and the sale of AKUH greeting cards fund the Patient Welfare Programme, established in 1986 entirely through donor endowments, annual charitable giving and voluntary contributions. From these revenues, needy patients in 2006 received support worth PKR 217 million through subsidies and direct financial assistance. Since 2001, the Programme is further supplemented by Zakat contributions, collected and disbursed by The Patients' Behbud Society for AKUH.

So far more than 280, 000 patients have been assisted with a disbursed amount exceeding PKR 1.6 billion

The 2007-2008 Eid/Seasons Greeting Cards Campaign will again address the need for financial support to needy patients, the amount of which grows exponentially each year. To cater to the varied and selective preferences of card buyers, original designs depicting the joy and festivity of the special occasion have been selected for this brochure.
