Educational Resources

To facilitate interactive learning and research oriented medical training, the Department of Radiology maintains a good educational learning recourse, which includes the following:

Electronic Library of Images (LoI) - Radiology
LoI is intended to provide an accurate, comprehensive and easily accessible educational resource for all its users. Jointly managed by the Department of Radiology and Information Systems Department, this online resource provides web-based learning for medical students and residents. This resource has been developed by digitising the original films; and then catalogued using the ACR (American College of Radiology) system. The website is constantly updated, upgraded and expanded on a regular basis. Users are invited to provide contributions for adding and sharing interesting cases in the library.
Currently the library is available for AKU Intranet users from within the university.

Online - MRI Case Index
MRI teaching file index is a collection of cases, which are searchable based on their diagnosis, acquisition protocol, anatomical region and level of complexity. The resource is maintained and updated by MRI residents under MRI faculty supervision. Developed as Radiology Information Systems (RIS) module, the resource benefits case search for radiologists and thus helps save valuable time during education and research projects.

University Library
Aga Khan University (AKU) Library provides access to a large collection of subscribed good quality journals. The journals are dually accessible as printed copies as well as online copies. For more details, click here.

Department Library
The Department of Radiology is managing a comprehensive up to date collection of good quality radiology text books, journal, videos and CDs; which are available to AKU radiology residents, medical students, staff and radiologists. The library is continuously updated and maintained by a team of trained staff and faculty.

Teaching Case Collection
Radiology teaching is incomplete without the aid of useful clinical cases for learning and group discussion. That is why, to create a true environment of teaching, education and research, the department maintains a collection of films arranged on case-based criteria. The collection is managed by the teaching resource group.
