AKU’s Information Technology Division offers Internet services in the form of AKUNET, the University’s own in-house ISP, to serve the telecommunication needs of the academic and health care communities. This facility was developed keeping in mind the need for fast information transmission and its impact on health care. AKUNET strives to provide competitive Internet services to students and medical professionals from within AKUH and outside.

On campus, Internet access is provided over the Local Area Network. Services are presently available not only from over 2,000 network access points within the campuses but also from standard analogue or digital phone lines from outside AKU campuses.

AKUNET provides web services through which users can check their online account status, usage, invoices, etc. A most useful feature is a 10 MB free inbox that is accessible on the web. Another feature is the online recharging facility available for the staff and faculty of AKU.
