GROWTH HARMONE STIMULATION TEST (Insulin):
Laboratory assessments of Growth harmone deficiency are performed by measuring Growth harmone under stimulation. This stimulation could be done with insulin .A marked fall in glucose level stimulates growth harmone secretion.

Indication:
Short stature due to Hypopituitarism

Prerequisites:
Patient is required to come with fasting. Test should be performed under medical supervision. Patient should not be taking any drugs that can affect growth harmone secretion.

Schedule:
This test is done with prior appointment from Monday to Friday.

Sample collection:
This test is performed by injecting insulin intravenously. Blood samples are drawn at the start of the test then at 30,45,60,90 and 120 minutes interval.

Interpretation:
Normal response is >20mU/L or >10 fold of baseline.
