Technologist Training
Programme and Continuing Educational Activities:
The objective is to ensure that personnel performing assigned task(s) are provided
appropriate/adequate training to meet requirement(s) of the Quality System.
One of the most important
responsibilities of the management is to maintain and
develop its most important asset i.e. its human resource.
Yes, we at the Clinical Laboratories believe that our
most important asset is our faculty and staff. The quality
of our work is the direct determinant of how well trained
our faculty and staff are in all required aspects of
our job. These include technical training requirements
and as well as managerial and personal effectiveness
training. Clinical Laboratories is following a multi-pronged
strategy to cater to the training and development needs
of its faculty and staff. It has a twelve-month "Traineeship" programme
in place where fresh graduates from accreditated universities
are selected and trained on-the-job so as to conform
to Aga Khan University Hospital's (AKUH) high requirements.
For other technical training, faculty and staff are sponsored
for other local and overseas training. Where feasible,
experts are called in from overseas to train and develop
a large pool of people here.
For enhancing managerial and personal effectiveness, Clinical Laboratories are constantly in close liaison with the Training and Organisational Development Department, the Centre of English Language, and the Training Wing of the Information Technology Division. Clinical Laboratories are an important customer for all of these in-house training imparting units.
