How Does the Programme Work?
The Patient Welfare Programme has a two-pronged approach :
Indirect Welfare
Certain Hospital services are subsidized for General Ward patients and patients who use the walk-in clinics in the Community Health Centre through a lower than cost pricing policy. The subsidy is through the Hospital's revenues
Direct Welfare
A direct partial waiver of Hospital charges based on capacity to pay, further assists those who cannot afford even the subsidised costs of the General Ward beds. Assistance is also available to outpatients for consultations at the specialist Consulting Clinics, and for those requiring investigative diagnostic procedures, etc. This budget is managed by Patient Welfare Department.
Prerequisites for Inpatient Welfare Assistance
The prerequisites for applying for Inpatient Welfare Assistance are outlined below:
- The patient must meet the eligibility criteria for assistance
- Inpatients must occupy a General Ward bed
- Departmental Budget must be available
- The patient must contribute towards his treatment (No free treatment)
- Patient must request assistance before proceeding for any medical service. However, patients in life-threatening situations may request assistance even after admission.
