Who is assisted?

For inpatient support, the individual should

  • Occupy a general ward bed;
  • Contribute towards treatment cost;
  • Request assistance prior treatment/admission

Notes:

  1. In life-threatening circumstances, assistance may be sought after admission
  2. Subject to availability of Zakat funds

Process

Patients unable to pay the full cost of the Hospital's inpatient or outpatient services may request the financial counselor or Patient Welfare Officers for welfare assistance before availing the Hospital's services, to meet the cost of their treatment. The patient or their immediate relative will be interviewed and if the family's socio-economic profile meets the Hospital's Welfare Criteria, he/she will be eligible to receive Zakat in accordance with Shariah. However, in a life threatening situation, the patient may be admitted first and the request for financial assistance may be made by the attendant immediately after the admission. The qualifying patient cases are presented to the Executive Committee of the Society, evaluate each case and approve assistance for zakat funds.
