Department of Surgery
General Surgery Section
The section of General Surgery provides consultative, diagnostic and therapeutic services for a wide range of surgical disorders, including those of the intestinal tract, hernias, breast, biliary tree, liver, pancreas, spleen, rectum, endocrine (including thyroid), vascular system and trauma. The section also offers complete management programmes in diabetic foot care and breast diseases (including prosthesis and reconstruction).
The state-of-the-art operating room suites are equipped for "minimally invasive surgery". Laparoscopic cholecystectomy and hernia repairs allow patients to return to their daily activities with a shortened recovery time. The endoscopy suite has video capability for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy of upper and lower gastrointestinal tract.
The day care surgery theatres offer surgery under local or general anaesthesia on an outpatient basis for several procedures. Day care outpatient surgery avoids patients’ hospitalisation, reduces cost and offers them the opportunity to recover in the comfort of their own homes.
